TDR, the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases, is a global programme of scientific collaboration. Established in 1975 at WHO and co-sponsored by UNICEF, UNDP, the World Bank and WHO, it helps coordinate, support and influence efforts to combat infectious diseases of poverty. A new ten-year vision approved in June, 2007, expands support to scientists and policy makers from disease endemic countries to play a pivotal role in this work.
