The Hospital for Tropical Diseases, London

The Hospital for Tropical Diseases began life as the Seamen’s Hospital on HMS Grampus in 1821. It is now the NHS national referral centre with a 43-bed inpatient unit at the new University College Hospital. The out-patient department consists of a travel centre, emergency walk-in service and a dozen specialist clinics including a new service for migrant family health. HTD is also home to the Parasitology Reference Laboratory and National Health Travel and Advisory Centre.
